Starter Screen Print onto Textiles (full day)
Starter Screen Print onto Textiles // One-Day Workshop // 10am - 4pm
There are so many fabric types in existence and so many uses for printed textiles.
This Day Course is a starting point for learning about how to screen print onto fabric/s, which screens to use, how your choice of image can work better on your choices of cloth, and how colour print reacts with varying textural surfaces. There is so much detail to consider and variation to create with textiles.
The morning session is crammed full of try-out screen prints onto fabric types, whilst following the screen print work-flow of learning how to coat and expose an image to a screen, mix colours and align your prints.
Ready-made test screens will be available for you to use freely too, as this speeds up your decisions for the afternoon screen print session, where you will develop your own mini-project.
You will be encouraged to handle sample prints made by Vicky, to gain an understanding of the infinit possibilities.
A vegetarian home-cooked lunch is provided and warm drinks throughout the day.
There are wall spaces to pin your prints up in the studio, so you can see your on-going results. We'll stop for reflection and discussion as required. There is also a drying space, so you can take dry prints home.
Expect to leave with a fabric 'booklet' of trial screen prints and inspiration to continue.
*Please bring your sketchbooks, collections of items, drawings and samples of printed textiles. This all helps to create a moodboard of ideas and you will begin to see the start of a design style.
Free parking in a carpark, easy to reach by train, the nearest station in Slaithwaite (pronounced Slawit) then a short taxi ride.
I look forward to working with you.
